If you're interested in getting Linux running on old/slow/small machines
(something of a hobby for me!) I'd recommend Damn Small Linux. I've just
installed it on a 130MHz ThinkPad with 40 Mb, a 1 Gb disk and no CD drive. I
had to use tomsrtbt and a PCMCIA network card to do a network install after
everything else had failed, but I got there in the end!

I've also had it installed on a 100MHz DX4 with 16Mb and a 340Mb disk, a
machine now sadly deceased.

There's an "official" book which covers most of the weirder possibilities.

Chris.
