Hi Alan,

I personally quite like the Brother range. The way they do things on
Linux (over IP) is quite interesting. You run their daemon, which
registers the scanner with the computer/server. When you press the scan
button (on the hardware), it sends a ping to the computer/server - which
then fires a configurable bash script, firing "scanimage"+parameters for
each selectable event (Scan to email / scan to image / scan to pdf).

This means that the autofeed can be setup to work exactly how you want
it, and could even upload to a remote server or anything else you can
think of doing!

Obviously you can use it directly with a SANE frontend, but I find it
handy to use the hardware button - connected to a server.

I tend to use it in LAN mode, however they also support wifi, but it's a
PITA to type in a decent length key. I should also mention, that their
after-sales *Linux* support is pretty good, even if not native english.
