Hi,

Thanks for the response. I don't think I'm using grub2 - I'm just using
what came with the latest version of Ubuntu.

The strange thing is that I have been doing it as root. I've been using
sudo to run the editor command, and it's been saving it fine.

Any other ideas what might be going wrong?
