The site's non-trivial to understand, unfortunately. I get lost
looking for information, too.

The main aims are to develop an X.509 Certification Authority based
on certifications of identity through a web of trust. The CA is also
attempting to get their certificates included by default in as many
web browsers as possible. To this end, they are currently undergoing a
full audit of their processes, and amending those processes to ensure
that they pass the audit. Once that's done, they will be included in
the Mozilla keyring, and CAcert certificates will work "out of the
box" in all Mozilla products.
