I agree with the lock away bit.
Login to the server remotely and shut it down.
Then you can use ILO/DRAC port to power it back on remotely when you
need to, or wake on LAN.
I think ILO has two power off options. One is the quick touch, one is
the keep virtual finger pressed.
I have not used IPMI, only iLO(HP) and DRAC (Dell)
I wish they could come up with an industry standard name.
