Hmmm! This includes:-
"Geneweb - I think it's only sensible for JL to move this to a
personal machine"

Technically I could probably do this from home by putting my server
outside the local-lan but I wouldn't have the bandwidth/speed to do
it properly. Hundreds of people from all round the world make use of
the data held in geneweb.

So to take my site off the hantslug box I need an alternative host
that will allow me a 15Gb storage space and in addition to
access to apache has geneweb and gallery installed, gives me full
access to /var/lib/geneweb and allows me to use my startx.co.uk
domain name.

When we first set up gallery on the lug box AP realised I'd need a
separate copy of gallery so have a clone called "pictures" in my
personal space on the box.

Having looked at commercial web hosting I realise the cost is way
beyond my means so can anyone suggest/offer an alternative please?

I could move the geneweb data to geneanet but the startx domain name
is now widely known and has been googled so this option would not be
welcome. We have already had problems with data hosted on the
geneanet site which led me to remove the data from there and put it on
the lugbox so I now have three databases running on geneweb.

I am very grateful for being able to use my shell account on the lug
box to host my personal website and databases but it is beginning to
look like I have overstayed my visit :-(
