Dapper->Hardy is support and tested as it is an LTS->LTS upgrade.
Although it's good advice to do as you say for the interval versions.
On another note, upgrading remote servers via ssh is worth using
"do-release-upgrade" which is quite possibly the neatest upgrade toy
yet. It will detect you are upgrading over ssh, and spawn another ssh
daemon on a different port incase the normal ssh daemon dies, locks up etc.
