I'd like to add my experiences to those already expressed

I got RSI from mouse use, both at work and at home. I tried a few
things, all of
which helped to some extent:

A guy I worked with said try swapping the mouse to your other hand .
It'll take
a couple of days to get use to it, but it will be OK. You don't need to
swap the
buttons over. This worked in that it allowed my RH to rest.

I got a mouse mat with a built-in wrist rest at work. I guess this falls
under "check
your overall posture etc". I haven't found I need one at home.

For some applications, you can get used to keyboard control instead of mouse
control (e.g. scroll using the page-up/page-down keys instead of the
mouse wheel).

Lastly, if you rest you wrist on the desk when using the keyboard, you
may need to
get a wrist rest for that too. I don't need that, but some people I know
have found it
very useful.

My RSI has gone and not returned.
