My granddaughter uses Songbird with OpenSuSE*. I'm afraid that that is all I
know and all she is likely to know.
Since what I know about MP3 players in general and iPods in particular could
be fitted on a fairly small postage stamp, I have happily left that
particular bit of admin to my son.
My granddaughter certainly has no problems using it, and moving songs on and
off her laptop, but I don't know whether my son had any problems setting it
up. He didn't mention any.

* Yes, I know. :-( But her school's very idiosyncratic wifi network wouldn't
speak to anything else we tried, including Kubuntu.
