She originally thought she would tile it herself but has had second
thoughts and is looking for a reliable tradesman (she lives in
Bristol by the way)

Already considered but she wants to change the layout to something
more ergonomically efficient, so just updating existing units
probably would give her want she wants. She likes cooking but the
kitchen is long (I'd guess about 12' ) and narrow with door
at one end and all units along the opposite wall. Lots of storage
for spices is one requirement :-)

Sterling XS have a Thinkpad T41 for £317, new enough to have the
original IBM warranty to Dec 2007. Includes Win XP Pro with COA &
restore CD. Something like this would be ideal for her with built in
wireless so no trailing wires.

Bernadette has her priorities right - paying off her mortgage and
buying books come first!

She is now talking about going back to Uni to get a degree in sci-fi
literature to add to her 1st class honours history degree. She didn't
go straight from school but worked until she'd saved enough to pay
her way through Uni.
