No, SuSE 10.2 is not the best you can do. In my opinion, anyway. :-)

You could purchase a distribution on CD or DVD from an official source,
if you wish, such as:

http://store.slackware.com/

That way you'll get an official copy of the CD or DVD and support the
project. If you subscribe to the project, you'll get each release sent
out to you automatically as soon as the CD is available and at the
current exchange rate will cost you about £15. I don't think Slackware
currently ships with OpenOffice however, but it does include KOffice.

Packaging is also based on simple .tgz files, and doesn't use complex
package management or dependency tracking which I think is ideal if you
do want to update the system at some point and need to download the
packages somewhere with an internet connection. You won't download an
update, apply it only to find the management tools are trying to drag
in dependencies for example.

Anyway, Slackware plug over! Normal service will now be resumed.
