Cable? - we had a powered splitter and found one of the fly leads
from the splitter was hopless but the other AOK.
Note that they were bought brand new (identical products).

We swapped the leads and sockets on the splitter and
tried the raw ariel cable.

Also we found if you are using a powered splitter it seems
to need a reboot every week or so. Perhaps our splitter
is just too "cheap" :-)

We tried an unpowere splitter but found that the computer and freeview
box would interfere if both were on at the same time.

Also when tuing in the freeview box we *had* to have the
computer off or we lost a lot of channles.
