I'm looking to avoid doing it at the procmail stage since I need a
solution that will work nicely with multiple local and virtual domains
and ideally allow some tweaking on a per domain and per user basis.

That's what I'll be doing if I go the Spamassassin route. I'm looking at
a threshold for rejection, another for greylisting and then finally
accepting the rest. I just need to get my head around putting it all
together!

Thanks, more reading :) I didn't mention using clamav, but that's on the
cards too - eventually!
