mysql-server works fine here with 64bit. I have a mythtv server
running 64bit ubuntu.

amd64 is generally good now.
The things that do not work are most probably down to bugs that will
get fixed just as soon as you raise a bug report about them.
I have not come across any open source program recently that does not
work well in 64bit mode.
