:-( It feels rather like someone pouring a bucket of cold water over me from
a great height - just in case I had any lingering glows of enthusiasm
burning. :-(

Linux is at last becoming more widely accepted. "Ordinary" people worldwide
are beginning to use it. It is a godsend for the third world, or those who
do not fancy being in thrall to M$. I myself have, fairly recently,
installed Linux for 3 "ordinary" computer users. All three like their
systems and wouldn't want to change.

But how can any of us seriously recommend anyone to use Linux if drivers are
to be allowed only if they are Open Source? Of course Open Source is
preferable - but a closed source driver is a darn sight more useful than no
driver.

I agree wholeheartedly with Linus. Free has to mean free, not free so long as
you only use it to do what I am prepared to permit. :-(
