I use Debian Sarge on my mail, web and general dogsbody server (I haven't
decided if I will upgrade to Etch yet although if I was setting up a new
machine from scratch Etch would likely be what I'd go for) but use a
dedicated broadband router as a firewall.

I'd certainly agree with that, but as a member of Hants LUG support for
Debian is pretty good and if you use it already I'd say it was a strong
candidate.

That said I'm actually thinking of setting up a FC server at home so I can
experiment with it as that's what I am using at work these days.
