See

The list is moderated by Andy Ransom and myself with occasional support
from the committee when holidays or other unavailabilities coincide. In
general the list is well behaved, and the administrative role is mainly about
fixing broken things and very occasionally stomping on threads which get
out of hand.

Discipline & policy wise, I've always seen our role as enforcing the
collective will of the subscribers rather than being arbitrarily heavy
handed. This is particularly true given that a number of people on the list
have been here basically since the start of time and conversations can
seem quite rude to people who aren't familiar with the way people talk
to each other.

As far as I've seen in the 15 years or so I've been using Linux, this is not
uncommon in similar communities

Most people behave courteously on the list and off the top of my head, I
cannot recall any complaints which have been made to the administrators
about the conduct of people who are subscribed. (Although I'm willing to be
corrected)

If Jacqui, Andy or Damian, or anyone else wants to make a complaint
about signatures or anything else, please feel free to email us on
hampshire-owner@???. That said, if you're getting offended
on another subscribers behalf, I'd expect to be hearing from them too
if any action is going to be taken.

If you want an actual policy change I suggest trying to discuss it as
unemotionally as you can on the list and seeing what people think.

Thanks

James
